What's
a codec? Why some
avi file can be converted, but others can not?
Every compressed video file uses a codec to decompress
the individual frames for playback. There are a great
many codecs. Some come with Windows, others must be downloaded
and installed before you can play back the video. Some
codecs are not compatible with DirectX, which is what
'ADShareit AVI to VCD DVD SVCD Converter' uses to decode
the video frames, in which case you will not be able to
encode the video using 'ADShareit AVI to VCD / DVD / SVCD
/ MPEG Converter'. Try getting the latest version of the
codec, it might work with 'ADShareit AVI to VCD DVD SVCD
Converter'.
|
| Where
to get a codec?
What's a codec? Codec stands for "COmpressor/DECompressor".
Every compressed video/audio file uses a codec to decompress
the individual frames/samples for playback. There are
a great many codecs. Some come with Windows, others must
be downloaded and installed before you can play back the
video. Some codecs are not compatible with DirectX, which
is what 'ADShareit AVI to VCD / DVD / SVCD / MPEG Converter'
uses to decode the video/audio frames and samples, in
which case you will not be able to encode the video using
'ADShareit AVI to VCD / DVD / SVCD /MPEG Converter'.
There are a lot of codecs, and as many places to get them
as there are codecs. If you downloaded a video from the
web, and you don't have the codec it requires, check the
website you downloaded the video from for information
on where to get the codec.

| The
converted mpeg file is video only with no audio playing
on windows media player. Any suggestions as to what I
did wrong??
1. In most time, ADShareit AVI to VCD / DVD Converter
will convert video first, and then convert audio, and
finally mix video and audio to a valid media file. So
if you cancel the conversion, the output file maybe no
sound.
2. Usually, an avi file combined with two part, one is
the video part, another is the audio part, video part
format maybe MS uncompressed, Ms compressed, DivX, Xvid...
, audio part format maybe MPA, MP2, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, WAV...
, our software support these audio format, but some avi
files maybe use some unsupported audio format. You can
try to install our powerful "codec" package,
then try it again.
